ABOUT THE ARTIST
Arlene Bogna is a native Angeleno
who seems to have had insight into her true calling
early on in life. As a small child she would hike
out to the Angeles Forest, where she staged and photographed
scenes with her casts of dolls and stuffed animals.
As a teen she was awarded various art scholarships
and trained in figure drawing at Art Center Pasadena.
She earned a degree in film and literature at UCLA
and spent a year studying cinema and mass media at
the Universita di Bologna, Italy. Arlene went on to
become an award-nominated art director and an award-winning
director.
Arlene explores themes of cultural identity and emotion
in her photography and paintings with a formal interest
in color and composition. Her work has been exhibited
in Los Angeles, and her paintings have appeared in
the TV PSA Canvas
which is in national broadcast rotation and won the
2007 Platinum Best of Show Aurora Award, a Telly Award,
and a Davey Award. Arlene is an artist member of the
Los
Angeles Art Association.
Arlene
Bogna's next solo show SAFARI
AMERICANA: SCENES OF DELIGHT is scheduled
for June 21, 2008 at Gallery
825.
