ABOUT THE ARTIST:

An award-winning Writer/Director and Photographer, Arlene Bogna has won numerous awards including two KidsFirst! Awards for her screenplay "Earth Kids" (w/N. Schubert), and a Telly, Platinum Best of Show Aurora, Davey, and Remi, for her narrative PSA "Canvas" which she created for the art non-profit, A Window Between Worlds, produced by Women In Film. Bogna’s art and film background includes fine art classes in color, composition, painting and drawing at The Art Center and Otis Parsons, film and media at the Universita di Bologna, Italy, culminating in a Film and Italian Literature degree from UCLA. She continues to expand upon her art education.

Bogna's solo exhibit SAFARI AMERICANA: SCENES OF DELIGHT was featured in ArtScene, Metromix, Los Angeles Times, SCWCA, ExperienceLA.com, and MutualArt.com. Arlene has also exhibited at the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery at Barnsdall Park, Gallery 825 (Jurors include Jay Belloli of the Armory Center for the Arts, Sugar Brown of George Billis Gallery with Artist Kent Twitchell), UCLA-Santa Monica Medical Center (Art & Wine Auction), Project 210, the AIA award-winning home/gallery of Michael Collins & Daniel Banchik, and Bonhams & Butterfields (for Project Angel Food).

Arlene is a native Angeleno who seems to have had insight into her true calling early on in life. As a small child she would hike out to the Angeles Forest, where she staged and photographed scenes with her casts of dolls and stuffed animals. Arlene explores themes of cultural identity and emotion in her photography and paintings with a formal interest in color and composition.
