ABOUT
THE ARTIST:
An
award-winning Writer/Director and Photographer, Arlene
Bogna has won numerous awards including two KidsFirst!
Awards for her screenplay "Earth Kids" (w/N. Schubert),
and a Telly, Platinum Best of Show Aurora, Davey, and Remi,
for her narrative PSA "Canvas"
which she created for the art non-profit, A
Window Between Worlds, produced by Women
In Film. Bogna’s art and film background includes
fine art classes in color, composition, painting and drawing
at The Art Center and Otis Parsons, film and media at the
Universita di Bologna, Italy, culminating in a Film and Italian
Literature degree from UCLA. She continues to expand upon
her art education.
Bogna's
solo exhibit SAFARI AMERICANA:
SCENES OF DELIGHT was featured in ArtScene,
Metromix, Los Angeles Times,
SCWCA, ExperienceLA.com,
and MutualArt.com. Arlene has
also exhibited at the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery at
Barnsdall Park, Gallery 825 (Jurors include Jay Belloli of
the Armory Center for the Arts, Sugar Brown of George Billis
Gallery with Artist Kent Twitchell), UCLA-Santa Monica Medical
Center (Art & Wine Auction), Project 210, the AIA award-winning
home/gallery of Michael Collins & Daniel Banchik, and
Bonhams & Butterfields (for Project Angel Food).
Arlene is a native Angeleno who seems to have had insight
into her true calling early on in life. As a small child she
would hike out to the Angeles Forest, where she staged and
photographed scenes with her casts of dolls and stuffed animals.
Arlene explores themes of cultural identity and emotion in
her photography and paintings with a formal interest in color
and composition.
